Divided into Two Groups
Chapter 136:Divided into Two Groups
"Robert, there's the Paheroch's watchtobe," said Jeremy, pointing to a row of log-colored stacks in the distance. "The confluence point of the major's confluence is there."
“Is the Paheochue lookout a row of boards set on a swamp?”Robert looked over there, somewhat uncertain, “Are you mistaken?”
"You see the end of the strait," said Jeremy, "and look at your eyes, I'm afraid that even pretty girls won't get your attention."
“Is that guy like a lighthouse?”Robert said, "I've been blocked by a tree before, and I haven't seen it."
“How far are we from the Flamingo Visitor Center?”Kevin takes care of Jennifer and Mason in the back compartment, along with Sigourney, who has been watching Jennifer and Mason.
"Less than thirty miles away, Mr. Vice-command," said Jeremy, "how are the two ladies?"
"Not too good," Kevin looked back at Jennifer and Mason, "so I suggest you speed up a little bit more."
"All right," Robert rattled the throttle, the roar of the truck's engine, and a few frightened waterbirds suddenly flew out of the woods by the roadside. After they flew out of the woods, they saw that what made a sound was moving away, so they fell back to the ground and began to walk leisurely for food.
The truck heading to the Flamingo Visitor Center and the convoy behind it pulled a dozen miles away, and the truck’s wheels were driving past the lake, and a waterfowl that happened to catch a frog was so frightened that it held the freshly caught frog in its mouth, leaving only one of the frog’s legs outside. The waterbirds pounced a few times in the lake, and there were ripples on the lake.
Robert’s truck drove past West Lake, next to Long Lake Village, and Jason’s motorcade also reached the Pahoeucci Observatory.
The truck of the convoy was parked in the parking lot outside the trestle, and everyone got out of the car, and many people began to look at the nearby scenery curiously.
The parking lot is located in a shade of green, and there is a small road from Route 9336.The entire parking lot is like a circular runway, encircling a green area in the middle. There are two dozens of meters of stairway from the parking lot to the watchtobe, one of which is above the water in the swamp, and the other passes through a forest, across a stone.
Jason arranged for people to set up a post at the entrance to the observation deck in the parking lot, and left a few soldiers here to take care of the vigilance. The others followed him to the stairway and walked in the direction of the watchtobe.
The stack across the water is full of traces of the years, the wooden handrails have been very smooth, the wood under the stack is covered with moss, the water is full of water.
The water quality in the swamp is very clear, and looking down through the water, you can see a lot of fish swimming in the water, and occasionally there are large crocodiles hiding between the grasses.
A few waterbirds stopped on the armrest of the trestle, they were not afraid of people at all, a girl from the research group took out the camera and began to take pictures of them, these water birds were curious to look at her, and one even approached the beak of the mouth to touch the camera lens.
In the distant marshes, two crocodiles lay on a raised stone with their eyes closed and rested, and a white waterbird swam more than a meter away from them.As we get deeper and deeper into the inside of the stack, more and more American crocodiles can be observed by the naked eye in the water next to the stack, and everyone is surprised that these crocodiles and waterfowl can actually survive here together.
At the end of the stairway was the towering watchtower, and the people in the motorcade followed the road that swayed in front to the watchtower. The Paheochi Observatory is divided into two layers, except for the base column more than four meters high below, the height of the first layer has exceeded the surrounding trees. This layer is a circular table, and the top of the table is a rain shower of the same area as the table. The middle part is a spiral metal staircase that follows the ladder to the upper level of the watchtoem.
The observatory is about 10 meters high, and from a distance it looks like a chimney rising in the woods. At the top of the watchtobe is a circular observation room, and the walls of the observation room are made of a piece of glass windows, standing in front of the window on the second floor, and the scenery of this swamp near here is full of view.
“The source of the currents in this swamp is from Okeechobe waters,” Dr. Mario told Martin.
"Listening to you, there's a lot of change here," said Dr. Martin. "Actually, I don't like it much, and I don't feel the business any more important."
"Well, thanks to Ernest Ko," Dr. Mario said, looking away from the railings on the first floor of the observation deck, "if it were not for his persistence and effort, it would have been landfilled up and covered with steel and cement."
“Nature is the protector of man,” said Dr. Martin, standing beside him, putting his hands on the railing and blinking.
“Sometimes it really just feels like humans are a group of viruses that are parasitic on Earth, that we greedily devour the Earth’s resources and kill the same animals that live on the planet as we do,” Dr. Martin continues.
“Thankfully, human beings are still very small in the face of nature,” Dr. Mario laughed, “and the government has been shouting the slogan of protecting nature, but what really needs to be protected is that we are human beings.”
“Haha,” Dr. Mario said, making Martin laugh, “I remember when I was in college, I used the same words to refute my classmates, when everyone thought the earth was dangerous, and they thought that the concentration of nuclear bombs from all the countries of the world could destroy the earth dozens of times.”
“It should be possible to destroy humanity dozens of times,” Dr. Mario said. “The Earth is still the Earth, and the only difference is that the species above will replace some of them.”
“That’s right,” Dr. Martin nodded.
“Doctor, are you going to go up and see?”Hill came to the spiral staircase, and she saw that the two heads of the research team were standing by the railings on the first floor talking about the sky, "This swamp is amazing."
"Go, beautiful lady," Dr. Mario nodded to Hill, "and I am old enough to climb this staircase."
"I'm not going up, I'm going to make a cup of coffee," laughed Dr. Martin. "If I don't have coffee, I always feel that there's a little less taste in my mouth."
“Then I’ll go up with Kim,” Hill said as he climbed the ladder.
The soldiers began to sit and rest on the first floor of the observation deck and the nearby trestle, and they sat in groups of three or five chatting, and some people began shooting crocodiles and water birds in the swamp with guns, but soon their behavior was stopped by Jason.
“Ammunition is for life, not for pleasure.”Jason shouted at them.
The team’s mission today was complete, and the men would as agreed wait at the watchtoise as they returned from the Flamingo Visitor Center. It was nearly noon, and Stephen brought the field rations from the other side of the stack.
"Major," cried one of the soldiers, "can we continue to eat crocodile meat at noon?"
"Certainly," said Jason, "you'll have to catch it yourself if you want to eat it, and don't use a gun."
“Hahaha,” there was laughter in the lookout.
Kevin’s truck finally stopped outside the gates of the Flamingo Visitor Center, where the river flows into the mouth of the Florida Bay.Not far away is the wide sea, where there are all kinds of seabirds, the scenery is beautiful.
To the left of the visitor center is a large campground, full of several hiking routes, where visitors who have previously come here camp, because the sunrise and sunset of Florida Bay can be seen.
Several motorhomes stopped at the edge of the campground, the body has become somewhat dilapidated, the campground grass still has some garbage left, there is no body nearby, no dead body is seen nearby.
"Signy, you stay in the car to take care of Jennifer and Mason," Kevin said as he jumped out of the car, as he detoured to the driver's cab and said, "Let's hurry to find the hospital here."
“Okay,” Robert and Jeremy jumped out of the car with the gun, the two of them walking in front, Kevin following behind them.
At the entrance of the Flamingo Visitor Center is a gas station that seems to have experienced a looting, and the refueling machines have fallen to the ground, some gasoline has leaked out, mixing the earthly soil, making this piece of ground color deeper than the surrounding.Several broken cars were parked at the entrance to the gas station, which stopped most of the entrance.
“Are you safe to leave a few women in the car?”Jeremy asked.
“The major had too few people,” Kevin said. “It’s not easy to take them to the hospital.”
"Well, the Flamingo Visitor Center is for you, you have the discretion."Robert said to Kevin.
The three men cautiously walked through the gas station before reaching an open space, which was a parking lot, where several box-type trucks stopped at the corner of the parking lot.
"Let's go over and see, it's a little strange," Robert intended to go over and check.
“How strange?”Kevin was a bit disgusted by the soldiers' extrasiding branches, "the cars knew at a glance that it was to deliver supplies here."
“Let’s go to the hospital.”Kevin urged, "Jennifer and Mason are suffering every second."
Kevin said as he was already walking in front, the trio continued along the road outside the parking lot toward the south side of the visitor center, and none of them found a glass window of a building in the distance, several pairs of eyes were staring at their every move.
