Chapter 360:Okinawa, Okinawa

Buried the last home of the Japanese Navy, the fourth theater directly faced the Ryukyu Islands.

The Ryukyu Islands are composed of more than 140 volcanic islands, with a total area of about 4,000 square kilometers, the medieval is a subsidiary country of the Shenzhou, its king pays tribute to Shenzhou every year, and has close economic and cultural exchanges with Shenzhou.

In the era of Japan's closed-door retreat, it was an important bridge for trade and exchanges between Japan and Shenzhou, so Japan has always allowed Ryukyu independence until 1879, when it was officially incorporated into the Japanese territory.

The Ryukyu Islands can be divided into three islands, from north to south, the Amami Islands, Okinawa Islands and the Islands of Pioneer Island, and Baoji Island constitute a criscus-shaped island chain, which has become the natural barrier of Japan in the East Sea.

Okinawa, the main island, is the largest island in the Ryukyu Islands, about 100 kilometers north and south, about 30 kilometers wide in the east and west, and only four kilometers at its narrowest point, covering an area of about 1,200 square kilometers.

The main cities are Naha, Shuli and the headquarters, the northern part of Okinawa Island is mountainous, the south is the open and flat hilly area, the east coast of the island has two natural harbor, Jinwu Bay and Midtown Bay, the Japanese army built Naha Military Port, the island also has Naha, Kadena, Jingu and Heayuan four airports, is an important sea and air base of Japan in the southwest of the mainland.

There is a special building on Okinawa, that is, the circular home tomb, built with solid stone, which can be seen everywhere on the island, and the Japanese army has become a solid fortification.

Okinawa is known as Japan's "national gate" because of its important strategic position in Japan's defense, so the Okinawa landing war is called the "breakout battle".

After the Red Guard Corps occupied the Dutch East Indies and the Philippines, Okinawa's position in the mainland defense was more prominent, and for Japan, once Okinawa was lost, the mainland, Korea and the coastal areas of Shenzhou would be completely lost.

Japan's surviving sea traffic line to Southeast Asia will be completely cut off, so the Japanese headquarters of the Japanese army judged that the Red Guard Empire must first land on Okinawa before attacking the Japanese mainland, so the Japanese army attaches great importance to Okinawa's defense.

Since the loss of the Mariana Islands, the focus has been on strengthening Okinawa's defensive forces and fortifications.

Today, the Japanese army is stationed in the Ryukyu Islands for the 32nd Army, with four divisions and five brigades, with Okinawa as the focus of defense, and Lieutenant General Long Niushima of the 32nd Army personally commanded the 9th, 24th, 62nd Divisions and the Independent 44th Brigade for defense.

The operational policy was to lure the enemy to a deep area that would not be supported by air and sea fire, and to eliminate it by pre-positioning positions, according to which the Japanese army had deployed 80 percent of its strength in the southern region centered on the capital.

Only a few symbolic troops were deployed in the north and coastal areas. The Japanese forces on Okinawa were two divisions and a brigade of the army, plus some of the Navy's police forces and marines, for a total of about 100,000.

In order to ensure the defense of Okinawa, the Japanese headquarters camp also formulated an aviation decisive battle plan codenamed "Operation Sky", which concentrated a total of 3,000 combat aircraft in the army and navy, of which more than half of the total number of suicide aircraft, were deployed in Baodao, Ryukyu and Kyushu.

Prepare to carry out fierce raids on its fleet and transport vessels when the Red Guards landed on Okinawa, and cooperate with the 32nd Army on the island to crush the landing of the US troops.

The Japanese Navy has also deployed hundreds of suicide motorboats and torpedoes on Okinawa and its nearby islands to conduct surface and underwater special operations against the Red Guard Navy.

In the face of the actively prepared Japanese, the fourth theater is also the main force to do its best and go all out.

The Fourth Theater first abandoned military action against Baoji and directly skipped the island of Berriul, which has no attack value, and set its sights directly on Okinawa.

When the fourth theater was ready to capture Iwo Jima, the Red Guards Corps' top command had long been clear that the fourth theater should begin to prepare plans to capture the Ryukyu Islands.

After the capture of Iwo Jima, the fourth theater also submitted a planned operation plan for Okinawa, which was approved by Lingliang.

The planned offensive against the Okinawa Islands included the entire Second Marine Corps, an airborne division, and an Air Cavalry Division.

The landing force of 150,000 people, the Second Marine Corps alone, has four complete and full formation of the Marine Corps Division, as well as a number of independent marine brigades, the total strength of 120,000 people.

The naval involved in the operation, covering all the naval and air forces in the fourth theater, all the main warships of the basalt fleet were dispatched, including three nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, two Hades-class battleships, four dreadnought class battleships and four fearless first-class battleships, and more than 100 cruisers and destroyers.

The largest amphibious landing fleet in the fourth theater is also all dispatched, with more than 100 amphibious dock landing ships and hundreds of tank landing ships and troop carriers.

The main force of the amphibious fleet is four amphibious assault ships with a displacement of more than 45,000 tons and 16 amphibious assault ships in the old level.

Including all the logistics supply ships and frigates, submarines and fire support ships, the number of all ships participating in the war is 1,200, the number of three-generation fighters, and 400 helicopters.

With a total force of 450,000, it is the largest in a war since the Pacific War of the Red Guards Corps.

In the main force of the Xuanwu fleet, the battle group of three nuclear-powered aircraft carriers took the lead in approaching the Okinawa Islands, and under the cover of night, the three aircraft carriers dispatched a large number of carrier-based aircraft, and launched air strikes on the Japanese air bases on Okinawa and Kyushu Island, and the suicide torpedo motorboat base.

Japan has amassed a large number of aircraft, the fleet is still very threatening, the first step of the plan is to destroy the Japanese prepared aircraft as much as possible, and to seize the air power in an all-round way.

Although the Japanese are very vigilant and have installed a lot of radar in the mainland, these radars generally have low performance, and they find that the distance of the aircraft is even within the range of the anti-radiation missile of the third-generation fighter.

Even if the Red Guard Navy did not prepare anti-radiation missiles, the Japanese radar could hardly be close to a single third-generation fighter five kilometers away.

The airstrike was so successful that three days before the start of the operation, Japan's airports on Kyushu and the Ryukyu Islands were destroyed.

In the morning, it was determined by satellite that night airstrikes had destroyed at least most of the aircraft in Japanese airports, ensuring that the number of aircraft that Japan could take off would not exceed 1,500.
